Sunderland are likely to get relegated to the Championship at the end of the season, but one player who can hold his head high is Jordan Pickford.

Pickford is only 23 years of age, but he has already shown just how good he can be. The Englishman has been one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League this season.

The performances of the England Under-21 international have seen him linked with a number of clubs in the English top flight.

According to The Sun, West Ham United, Arsenal, Everton and Tottenham Hotspur all are interested in Pickford, who is claimed to be rated at £15 million.

It remains to be seen what Pickford does in the summer transfer window, but one thing’s for sure: the goalkeeper is not going to switch to Newcastle United.

Sunderland and Newcastle are bitter North-East rivals, and the Englishman has made it clear that he will never play for the Magpies.

“I would never do that, I couldn’t do it myself, not me, never going to Newcastle,” said Pickford when asked if he would ever move to Newcastle during an interview broadcast on Sky Sports 1 on Sunday afternoon (broadcast from 12:30pm, April 9, 2017) in the build-up to the Premier League game between Sunderland and Manchester United at the Stadium of Light.

Newcastle are playing in the Championship this season, but it is very likely that they will get promoted to the Premier League for the 2017-18 campaign.
