According to The Sun, Fleetwood Town are hoping to delay Uwe Rosler's potential move to Norwich City until the end of the season as they pursue promotion.

The Canaries enjoyed a remarkable 7-1 home win over Reading on Saturday afternoon, but question marks remain over the club's managerial situation as the season draws towards its close.

Norwich chose to part ways with Alex Neil last month, and whilst caretaker boss Alan Irvine oversaw the 7-1 win against Reading, he isn't believe to be the first choice to replace Neil in the Carrow Road hot seat.

The Sun report that Fleetwood Town boss Uwe Rosler is in fact Norwich's first choice for the job, as new sporting director Stuart Webber is believed to be a huge of the 48-year-old manager.

However, it's stated that Fleetwood don't want to let Rosler go until the end of the season, given that they are challenging for promotion to the Championship – though with just four games to play and seven points to make up to second-placed Bolton Wanderers, they may have to settle for a play-off place.

That could be the worst-case scenario for Norwich, as that could take Rosler right up until the 20th of May, which is the date of the League One play-off final.

Fleetwood understandably want Rosler focused on winning promotion rather than engineering a move to Norfolk, and whilst Norwich may rather have Rosler in the job now to assess the squad ahead of pre-season, they may be forced to wait.

The aforementioned Webber has worked closely with another German manager, David Wagner, at Huddersfield Town, and landing Rosler could see him try and replicate their success – even if takes another month to six weeks to land his preferred manager.
