Arsenal and Chelsea are among the clubs said keen on the Wolverhampton Wanderers star, who has a reported £20 million release clause.
Wolves Helder Costa celebrates with manager Paul Lambert
Monaco are lining up a permanent move for Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Helder Costa, reports the Sunday People [02/04, page 53].
Costa spent last season on loan to the Ligue 1 side from Benfica, from whom he joined Wolves in another temporary deal in the summer.
Having impressed at Molineux, Wolves made the 23-year-old’s deal permanent for a club-record £13 million in January – although his contract is said to contain a £20 million release clause.
And that would be little deterrent to Monaco, who are closing in on a first top-flight title in 17 years and are into the quarter-finals of both the French Cup and Champions League.
Costa scored or made eight goals in 28 appearances for Monaco
Costa’s 12 goals and 11 assists this season are also said to have caught the eye of Premier League giants Arsenal and Chelsea, although the Sunday People reports the Portugal Under-21 star favours a return to the Stade Louis II.
Wolves have however struggled despite the form of Costa, and currently sit 16th in the Championship.
