Jakub Jankto has made 22 Serie A (17 starts) appearances for Udinese this season, but it seems he has done enough to catch the attention of several heavy weight Premier League clubs.
The 21-year-old has been one of Udinese's brightest players this season, and has scored five goals from central midfield. He has four assists to his name as well.
The Czech Republic international has stated his desire recently to play abroad in order to gain new experience.
“I want to play abroad, to try some new experience. I’m curious, I want to know other things,” he told Tuttomercatoweb. “I certainly do not see myself in Italy too long, certainly not up to 25 years.”
According to Talksport, West Ham have set their sight on the midfielder. There is also a reported interest from West Brom, according to Tuttomercatoweb, but Udinese could demand a fee in the region of €10m-12m, as reported by Gazza Mercato.
Arsenal seem to have joined the race as well, with Gazza Mercato reporting that scouts were present in Turin to watch Jankto during Udinese's 2-2 draw against Torino. Jankto produced a fine performance during the game, and the Arsenal scouts should be pleased with what they saw on Sunday.
The report adds that Jankto is close to agreeing on a contract extension with the Friuli club till 2021. However, with several Premier League clubs vying for his signature, chances are high of him leaving the Italian club.
Will he be a good signing for Arsenal? His ability to shield the back four, his set piece taking capabilities, and his penchant for perfectly weighted through balls could make him a star for the future.
