Burnley, Leeds United and Queens Park Rangers are all eyeing Coventry’s City EFL Trophy hero George Thomas, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

Thomas scored the winning goal with a superb strike in Sunday’s EFL Trophy final victory over Oxford United on Sunday and his overall performance saw him scoop the man of the match award.

The 20-year-old scored his first ever professional goal in the EFL Trophy this season and he has gone on to score the winner in the Wembley final.

Thomas has been one of Coventry’s shining lights this season in a disappointing League One campaign with the Sky Blues on the brink of suffering relegation as they are rock bottom of the table and 13 points adrift of safety.

Thomas, who has come through the ranks at Coventry’s academy, has established himself in the first-team this season and he has scored seven goals in 30 games in all competitions.

The Wales youth international’s progress in a struggling Coventry side has not gone unnoticed among clubs higher up the football pyramid with several sides sending scouts to watch the player in action this season.

Premier League Burnley and Championship duo Leeds and QPR are all keeping tabs on Thomas and are weighing up a move for the forward this summer.

Thomas’ contract at Coventry expires this summer and the Sky Blues will face a major battle to keep hold of him if as expected the suffer relegation to League Two.
