Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino
Monchi has been the brains behind Sevilla's success in recent years, as he managed to build a team to win three successive Europa League titles even whilst losing players.
In Monchi's 17 years as Sevilla's sporting director, he has overseen the signings of players like Dani Alves, Luis Fabiano, Fredi Kanoute, Ivan Rakitic, Carlos Bacca, Grzegorz Krychowiak, Kevin Gameiro, Geoffrey Kondogbia and Alvaro Negredo among others, helping Sevilla rake in profit year after year.
Those exploits have unsurprisingly made Monchi the most in-demand sporting director in Europe, and he finally looks set to move on, with a move to Italy on the verge of completion.
Sport Mediaset report that Monchi will take the sporting director role at Roma imminently, and he could look to replace manager Luciano Spalletti in one of his first moves.
It's claimed that Monchi has three top choices to succeed Spalletti; PSG boss Unai Emery, who worked as Sevilla boss under Monchi, current Sevilla manager Jorge Sampaoli, and Tottenham's Mauricio Pochettino.

Ultimately, it seems hard to imagine Roma being able to tempt Pochettino away from Spurs, where the Argentinian is settled and impressing, and whilst turning Roma into a powerhouse again would be an enticing challenge, there's almost no chance of Pochettino trading Tottenham for Roma right now.
Should Roma and Monchi pull off the unthinkable and somehow land Pochettino, it would hand him a surprise reunion with defender Federico Fazio, who is on loan at Roma having been frozen out at Spurs by Pochettino.
Signed twice by Monchi at Sevila, Fazio's chances of staying at the Stadio Olimpico have improved with Monchi's arrival – and he may not want to see Pochettino in charge of his future again have been cast aside at Tottenham.
Do you think Roma could ever lure Pochettino away from Spurs?
