Everton's Idrissa Gueye in action
Much has been said of the impact of Chelsea midfielder N'Golo Kante since he first arrived in the Premier League back in 2015. Joining a Leicester City side that was expected to struggle under new boss Claudio Ranieri, French midfielder N'Golo Kante was somewhat of an unknown.
However, after a season of dominating almost every midfield battle he took part in, Kante helped lead Leicester City to one of the most miraculous Premier League campaign's in history, guiding the Foxes to their first every Premier League title.
And since joining Chelsea last summer, the Frenchman has proved that he's no one-season-wonder. Dominating the midfield area along with Nemanja Matic, N'Golo Kante has arguably been one of the best defensive-minded players in Europe this season, and looks set to lead yet another side to a Premier League title win.
However, you might be surprised to learn that N'Golo Kante is infact not the current record holder for the most tackles in the Premier League this season. According to statistics provided by Opta, it is Everton midfielder Idrissa Gana Gueye.

Completing 107 tackles, six more than Kante, Gueye has surprised many with just how good a season he's had at Goodison Park this year. After a nightmarish introduction to English football with that shocking season at Aston Villa, Gueye had a tough start to life in England. But now, under Ronald Koeman, the Senegalese man has proved his worth.
With Everton looking like potentially struggling to keep hold of their big stars this summer, such as Romelu Lukaku and Ross Barkley, might Everton be smart to get Idrissa Gueye penned down to a new contract sooner rather later.
