Sheffield Wednesday duo Barry Bannan and Jordan Rhodes came on for Scotland in the Tartan Army's 1-1 draw against Canada on Wednesday.

Midfielder Bannan replaced RB Leipzig's Oliver Burke at the break, while Rhodes came on for goalscorer Steven Naismith with 28 minutes left at Easter Road.

Sadly though, may Scotland fans were left wishing they hadn't, with the pair seemingly bringing their Hillsborough form to the international scene.

The reaction on social media afterwards does not make for pleasant reading for either player, although Bannan appears to be the hardest hit - despite Rhodes missing the target from two yards out at the death.

Here's what the Scotland fans have had to say about the Owls duo's cameos:

Bannan was named in the Championship's team of the season a year ago, following an impressive debut campaign in Wednesday colours.

However, the 27-year-old's form has dipped of late, in the absence of partners-in-crime Kieran Lee and Sam Hutchinson.

Rhodes signed for the Owls in January from Middlesbrough, in a deal which could eventually net the Teessiders around £10m.

The prolific marksman has found the net just three times in 10 appearances for his new side, although chances have been few and far between.
