Over the past week or so Tottenham Hotspur have found themselves linked with moves for two Croatian stars.

Spurs are said to be interested in both Inter Milan’s Marcelo Brozovic and Real Madrid’s Mateo Kovacic - as they hunt for the next ‘Luka Modric’.

Both are superb players but if Spurs really want to bring in a Croatian midfield talent they should be looking to rekindle their interest in 19-year-old midfielder Ante Coric.

The Dinamo Zagreb star is already a full Croatian international with years at the top of the game clearly ahead of him, such is his talent.

Squawka reported last November that Tottenham and Liverpool would go head to head for the player in the January transfer window, with a price-tag of £15 million being mentioned.

But no such deal ever came about and Coric remains at Dinamo.

Tottenham should not splash out on Brozovic or Kovacic this summer. In Coric, they may be able to get their hands on a player who can go on to be even better.

If they want a new Modric, then Coric is the player they should sign, develop and then enjoy.

Not Brozovic or Kovacic.
