Holland boss Danny Blind says he is open to taking a gamble on Tottenham Hotspur striker Vincent Janssen this weekend.

Janssen has barely featured for Spurs in recent months, with opportunities limited, even with Harry Kane out injured.

Blind has a choice between Janssen, and Sporting Lisbon striker Bas Dost, who has netted 24 goals in 23 league games this season.

There is understandably clamour for Blind to pick Bas Dost based on current form, but the manager is prepared to pick Janssen, after being impressed with his fitness after seeing him in training, despite a lack of match action.

He told Dutch outlet Omroep Brabant: "He is certainly very fit. You can leave that to his coach Mauricio Pochettino. Obviously match practice is important. But quality is important to me than playing less minutes.

"Choosing is often difficult but having nothing to choose is far worse."

Blind went on to indicate he has already made up his mind who he will pick for Saturday's fixture against Bulgaria, and conceded whatever he does he will always be second guessed, adding: "In hindsight it's always easy to judge. But I'm picking."

This time last year Janssen was establishing himself as Holland's first choice striker, and rose to prominence by netting in a surprise win over England at Wembley.

He would have hoped his move to Spurs would solidify his claims, but it has only put him under more pressure. If he gets a chance to start this weekend, Janssen needs to take it.
