Sheffield Wednesday haven’t had much luck with left-backs this season and would be wise to consider the Nottingham Forest favourite.

Since the end of last season, Sheffield Wednesday have handed permanent deals to three specialist left-backs, but have yet to get it quite right
Despite impressing on loan last term, Daniel Pudil has failed to replicate those performances since his return to Hillsborough from Watford, while the jury is still out on January recruit Morgan Fox, whose role in Yann Kermorgant’s goal during Wednesday’s defeat to Reading on Friday certainly warrants questioning.
£5 million winger Adam Reach has spent more time there than he perhaps would have liked, while Urby Emanuelson has yet to feature for the Owls since signing a short-term deal last September.
Although the Dutchman should be long forgotten by the start of next season (if he isn’t already), Wednesday would perhaps find it harder to offload either of Pudil or Fox – should they wish to of course.
With their budget likely to be focused elsewhere (i.e. the centre of their defence and midfield), it is unlikely the Owls will be splashing out on a replacement this summer. However, that doesn’t mean they can’t still strengthen at left-back.
One player who would almost certainly improve Carlos Carvalhal’s side in that area is Dani Pinillos, the impressive Spaniard currently on the books of Nottingham Forest.
A free transfer signing from Cordoba two summers ago, Pinillos might well be a Premier League player by now, were it not for a serious knee injury suffered midway through last season.
After making his long-awaited return in November 2016, Pinillios has rediscovered his best form over the past few months and scored his first goal for the Reds – a last-gasp equaliser, no less – in Saturday’s draw against rivals Derby County.

However, with Forest spending much of the campaign in turmoil the 24-year-old has yet to be handed a new contract, and remains on course to leave the City Ground for nothing this summer.
Wednesday would be wise to take advantage, whichever division they’re in.
