Over the course of the weekend, fans have been taking part in a HITC Sport poll, voting for the winger that they believe is the best in the Sky Bet Championship. Wide players from clubs such as Newcastle United, Fulham, Derby County, Aston Villa and Brighton and Hove Albion were all selected.

But which wide midfielder took the top spot? Here's a rundown of how the votes panned out, and who came away as the fan-voted best winger in the Championship...

3. Albert Adomah (Aston Villa) - 7%

The former Bristol City and Middlesbrough winger joined Aston Villa in the summer, and despite their torrid campaign, the Ghanaian has looked excellent in a Villa shirt this season. Strong, powerful and direct, Adomah is exactly what you want from a wide player, and could just do with adding a few more goals to his game, after scoring three goals so far for the Villans.

2. Matt Ritchie (Newcastle United) - 12%

Eyebrows were raised at just why on earth Bournemouth let Matt Ritchie go this summer, but their loss has been very much Newcastle United's gain this season. Scoring 13 goals already for the Toon this season, Matt Ritchie has been one of the major stars of Rafa Benitez's side.

1. Anthony Knockaert (Brighton and Hove Albion) - 70%

Storming to victory with a massive 70% of the vote, fans have voted Brighton and Hove Albion's Anthony Knockaert as the best winger in the Championship. Many were surprised to see the winger leave Leicester City back in 2015, but since his return to the Championship with the Seagulls, Anthony Knockaert has been unstoppable. The Frenchman looks set for Premier League football with Brighton and Hove Albion come the end of the season, and it's fair to say that he deserves it.
