Cy Goddard learning from Tottenham teammate Christian Eriksen; is he a future first-team star?

General view of construction at White Hart Lane before the match

The Tottenham Hotspur teenager will be hoping to following in the footsteps of Harry Winks and Josh Onomah.

Tottenham Hotspur youngster Cy Goddard has been speaking to the club’s official match day programme about teammate Christian Eriksen’s set-piece technique, with his comments later published online by Football.London.

“I’m…looking at his technique at the moment, his ball-striking, and just trying to get that top spin and power on the strike using his technique,” Goddard said.

The 19-year-old attacking midfielder has been making waves in Tottenham’s academy for quite some time now, and with 12 appearances for Spurs’ under-23s this season he will be looking to make another step up in due course.

That will be easier said than done given the players ahead of him at White Hart Lane right now, but he is certainly making the right choice trying to replicate the Danish international’s delivery.

Goddard was hailed as “fantastic” by under-18 coach Ugo Ehiogu in an interview with the club’s official website back in the summer of 2015, after he put in a superb showing for a Tottenham XI against their Peterborough counterparts, but only time will tell what the future holds for yet another exciting Spurs teenager.

Whatever happens, White Hart Lane certainly looks like the place to be for football’s next generation right now.
