West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic
West Ham United are interested in bringing in Sampdoria's Colombian striker Luis Muriel this summer, according to a report by the Mirror.
The striker has scored 10 goals and 9 assists this season in Serie A, and reportedly has a £24 million release clause in his contract, which West Ham United may wish to activate.
The Hammers, who need to add more goals to their side, will be in the hunt this summer for a proven goalscorer, and may turn to the Colombian striker, who has been a consistent performer in the Italian first division for the last few years.
However, West Ham will also need to be conscious of bringing in a forward who can compliment their other main target man, Andy Carroll. The former Newcastle United striker's game relies on the hard work of other players around him, making space and providing him with chances. Will Luis Muriel be this type of striker?
Luis Muriel - Sampdoria
The Colombian's assist record this season would certainly suggest that, but there are other factors which make the Sampdoria forward a perfect target for West Ham.
Luis Muriel is a fast and tricky striker, who plays his best football when linked with a larger striker, who can hold the ball up and win possession in the air. Muriel is often seen testing defences coordination with runs in behind the line at pace, and would add something to Slaven Bilic's side which they don't currently have.
Despite disappointing fans with their transfer business in January, it looks like West Ham United are set to get things right this summer, with Luis Muriel potentially at the top of Bilic's summer shopping list.
