Rangers are expected to confirm Caixinha’s arrival shortly, a month to the day since Mark Warburton left Ibrox.
Pedro Caixinha
Three of Pedro Caixinha’s Al Gharafa coaching team are set to follow the Portuguese boss to Glasgow Rangers, according to the Scottish Sun.
Caixinha’s appointment has not yet been confirmed by the Ibrox side, although an announcement is expected shortly, after his current employers released a statement on Thursday confirming they have sanctioned his departure.
However, the 46-year-old may not be the only member of staff the Qatari side will have to replace, with deals reportedly agreed for backroom trio Helder Baptista, Pedro Malta and Jose Belman.
Assistant coach Baptista has worked as Caixinha’s right-hand man at all three of his clubs, União Leiria, CD Nacional and Santos Laguna, while fitness coach Pedro Malta and goalkeeper coach Jose Belman have also followed the future Rangers boss around.
However, with neither of the trio having any experience of working within the Scottish game, the Daily Record reports that Rangers will assign Caixinha a number two of their choosing to help bridge any gaps, a la Ronny Deila and John Collins at Celtic.
Former Celtic boss Ronny Deila
Even if Caixinha’s appointment is confirmed ahead of Sunday’s Old Firm clash at Celtic Park, the former goalkeeper is not expected to take the reins until after the game, with his Ibrox bow scheduled for Hamilton’s visit a week on Saturday.
