Northampton Town midfielder Emmanuel Sonupe is a former teammate of Tottenham Hotspur youngster Harry Winks.

Emmanuel Sonupe has revealed to Sky Sports that Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Harry Winks used to moan when he did not get enough playing time.

Sonupe, who is now at Northampton Town, played with Winks at Tottenham’s youth teams.

The 20-year-old midfielder has revealed that the Spurs youngster used to moan when he did not play enough games.

“Harry’s a little bit of a moaner, to be honest,” Sonupe told Sky Sports. “When we were in Mexico and he hadn’t been playing much, you could tell he was frustrated at training every day but not playing.

“He always wants to be at the top doing the best. I think all good players have a little bit of that in them. Now he’s doing that. He stayed and it’s paid off.”

“He just fits that template for what a Tottenham player should be,” added Sonupe. “He’s a bit of a moaner, OK, but he’s a good guy and a great player.”

Winks, who is 21 years of age, is one of the best young players at Tottenham and has a very bright future.

The England Under-21 international midfielder has scored one goal and created five chances in 18 Premier League appearances for Spurs so far this season.

The youngster played four times in the Champions League and twice in the Europa League for the North London outfit this campaign.

Winks is not guaranteed a place in the Tottenham starting lineup, but manager Mauricio Pochettino is giving him playing time.

The youngster needs to work hard and must be patient. If Winks continues to impress Pochettino, then he will establish himself as a key figure in the first team in the coming years.
