Jason Cundy may not be welcome at Celtic any time soon.

Celtic won again last night to move closer to lifting a sixth successive league title.

They are running away at the top of the Scottish Premiership, 27 points clear of Aberdeen and 33 ahead of Rangers.

Next season they will get another crack at the Champions League, where the famous Celtic Park crowd will be as vociferous as ever.

One man who may not be welcome is Talksport host Jason Cundy, who last night questioned the level of the club’s support.

Referencing the fact that Celtic have more than 200,000 fewer Twitter followers than Stoke City, Cundy made his point via Twitter.

Using Twitter followers to judge a level of fandom is however not necessarily an accurate measuring stick.

Stoke City are Premier League regulars and have been for the last decade, and their large Twitter following can be partly attributed to the huge global pull of England’s top flight, with Scottish football an afterthought for many around the world.

Of course, if Twitter followers were a true barometer of popularity, then Piers Morgan and his 5.5 million followers would be one of the most admired men on the planet, and that’s a scary thought.
