Richard Dunne has told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, which was broadcast on 1st March, that Wayne Rooney would be a great signing for Everton.

According to Sky Sports, Everton will make a move for Manchester United forward Rooney in the summer transfer window.

Toffees boss Ronald Koeman has already confirmed that he would like to bring Rooney to Goodison Park.

And Dunne, who used to represent Everton during his playing days, suggests that Rooney would be a great addition for his former club.

“I think he’d be a great signing,” Dunne said. “He’s not had a run of games, but in terms of fitness and ability, that’s not in question. Rooney only has to look at Ibrahimovic and see how good he is. It would be a great signing for Everton, if they can get him.”

Rooney’s future at United has been placed into doubt, as he has struggled for starts this season.

The 31-year-old forward has been linked with China, but there is a feeling that he would prefer a move to Goodison Park.

England’s record scorer has started just nine Premier League matches for the Red Devils this term, and it appears his time at Old Trafford is coming to an end.

When Rooney was last at Everton, as a youngster, he scored 17 goals in 77 appearances for the Merseyside club.
