Burnley striker Andre Gray could force his way on to Mauricio Pochettino’s radar as the Tottenham Hotspur head coach looks to strengthen his squad ahead of next season, reports The Telegraph.

It is claimed that while Pochettino does not expect to have a huge budget to work with this summer, as Spurs’ move to their new stadium nears, the Argentine will inform Daniel Levy, the Lilywhites’ chairman, that a productive transfer window is essential to help him combine Premier League and European campaigns.

One way in which Tottenham can limit their expenditure is by targeting players whose contracts are running down and according to The Telegraph Gray could be an option, having entered the final 18 months of his deal at Turf Moor.

The 25-year-old has scored six goals in 20 Premier League appearances for Burnley, in what is his first campaign at the highest level.

And while the Clarets will no doubt be keen to keep hold of the former non-league frontman next season, the lure of playing for one of England’s top clubs, perhaps in the Champions League, could render them powerless to keep Gray knowing they stand to lose him for nothing in 2018.

According to The Telegraph, Tottenham remain keen on Everton’s Ross Barkley, whose contract also expires at the end of next season, along with Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha.
