Steve Bruce has told the Birmingham Mail that Aston Villa supporters need to be patient with all of their new additions.

Villa brought in a huge number of players during the January transfer window, but their impact hasn’t been immediate.

The likes of Henri Lansbury, Conor Hourihane, Birkir Bjarnason and Sam Johnstone have all struggled in their first few appearances for the claret and blues.

However, Bruce is confident that his new additions will come good in time – as long as Villa fans show patience.

“I’ve signed six or seven new players, the supporters need to help them, I’m sure they will. They’re quite unique support. I’m sure they’ll understand,” Bruce said.

“We’ve had constant turmoil and change. For a football club, that’s not great. We hope, that given time, we can settle down a bit.”

Villa’s poor form has increased the pressure on Bruce, and there is a realisation that they need to get back to winning ways soon.

The Midlands side were one of the promotion favourites going into this campaign, but they have badly disappointed.

Villa are currently in 16th place in the Championship table, and they are only seven points above the drop zone.

Bruce’s side are next in action against Barnsley later this evening.
