Chris Sutton has defended his comments that Glasgow Rangers have absolutely no plan, after they parted ways with Mark Warburton at the weekend.

Rangers released a statement on Saturday night, suggesting that Warburton had resigned from his post at Ibrox.

Warburton then claimed that he had never stepped down, which led to uncertainty over exactly what had happened with the 54-year-old boss.

What is clear, though, is that Warburton will not be returning to the Glasgow side – and Sutton has been very critical of the way Rangers have handled the situation.

Indeed, Sutton feels that if Warburton had a different agent, he would still in charge at Rangers today.

Warburton was reportedly interested in taking the Nottingham Forest job while he was in charge at Rangers, and that irked the board (Daily Mirror).

The former Brentford boss was coming under increasing pressure at Ibrox, after a run of poor results.

Rangers have been in terrible form since the turn of the year, and currently sit in third place in the Scottish Premiership table.

Alex McLeish is the current favourite to take over from Warburton at Rangers, after he announced his interest in the job.
