Stan Collymore has ranted about the directionless nature of Aston Villa’s spending on social media website Twitter.
Villa chairman Tony Xia has been widely credited for backing Steve Bruce with funds in the January transfer window.
The claret and blues plucked some of the top Championship talent around, and brought them to Villa Park, to try and improve their form.
Villa spent big to bring in the likes of Scott Hogan, Henri Lansbury and Conor Hourihane.
However, Bruce’s side slipped to a 1-0 defeat against Ipswich Town yesterday.
And Collymore criticised Xia after the match, bemoaning the lack of stability at Villa.
Collymore later claimed that he apologised to Xia for his knee-jerk reaction to Villa’s defeat.
Villa are currently in 16th place in the Championship table, with any hope they had of making the play offs surely gone now.
