Chris Sutton has offered his view on Rangers parting ways with manager Mark Warburton.

Pundit Chris Sutton has taken to Twitter to post his thoughts on Mark Warburton’s acrimonious departure from Rangers.

The Gers boss was expected to head into a crucial Scottish Cup tie against Morton on Sunday with his future on the line, after two dreadful performances against Hearts and Ross County, where Rangers lost 4-1 and drew 1-1 respectively.

Whilst Warburton was coming under increasing pressure from fans, few could have expected what came earlier this evening, as Rangers posted a shock statement on their official website claiming that Warburton has resigned.

Not only is Warburton heading for the Ibrox exit, but assistant manager David Weir and recruitment chief Frank McParland are also claimed to have resigned, though that statement isn’t without contention.

Warburton has told The Scottish Sun that he had no idea about the statement, claiming he hasn’t resigned at all and has no idea what Rangers are talking about – but with Graeme Murty in charge of Sunday’s cup tie, it seems that Warburton is in fact leaving the club.

The news looks to have brought an end to Warburton’s time at Ibrox, almost two years since he took the job as a replacement for Stuart McCall having left Brentford.

Promotion to the top flight made Warburton a hero last season, as did the Scottish Cup semi-final win over Old Firm rivals Celtic, but this season has been disappointing for Rangers, who sit third in the Scottish Premiership, a staggering 27 points behind league leaders Celtic.

Now, pundit and former Celtic striker Chris Sutton has taken to Twitter to offer his view, posting a video of his thoughts on Warburton’s shock departure from Glasgow.

Sutton claims that the job was just too big for Warburton, adding that he ‘lost the plot’ by talking ‘absolute nonsense in recent weeks, stating that this season has been ‘disastrous’.

Sutton added that Warburton hasn’t been helped by chairman Dave King or assistant manager Weir, criticising both of them, but ultimately feels that Warburton’s departure has been coming.
