Odds have been slashed on the Rangers manager leaving Ibrox for Nottingham Forest.

Mark Warburton could be in line to take over at Nottingham Forest, if recent betting patterns are anything to go by.

Odds on the Glasgow Rangers boss leaving Ibrox for the City Ground have been slashed to as short as 2/1 in some places, while the Scottish Sun reported earlier that Warburton was due in London for talks – albeit thought to be transfer related.

But could the 53-year-old be discussing a move to Forest? And, if so, what impact would it have on Rangers longer-term – after all, we know how much the former Brentford boss likes his old players.

Here are three he might want at Forest:

Josh Windass

Son of former Hull City striker, Dean, the attacking midfielder has impressed for Rangers when fit, having scored 17 times for Accrington last season. Already, the 23-year-old has been linked with moves away from Ibrox, with Newcastle, Derby and Hull all credited with an interest. Warburton’s presence could persuade him to Forest instead.

Jon Toral

Signed by Warburton at Rangers and Brentford, Toral plays in a similar role to Windass but boasts significantly more Championship experience and could be a safer bet. The Spaniard is on loan at Ibrox until the summer, at which point he is due to return to Arsenal, where opportunities are likely to be few and far between.

Barrie McKay

Who better to replace the departed Oliver Burke than another young Scottish international winger? McKay is said to have caught the eye of a number of clubs south of the border, as well as Burke’s new side RB Leipzig, having entered the final 18 months of his Rangers deal. Were Forest to get their act together off the pitch, such an ambitious move might seem a tad more realistic.
