Ledley King has praised Tottenham midfielder Victor Wanyama for his displays this season.
Tottenham Hotspur hero Ledley King has told the club’s official website that he has been impressed with Spurs star Victor Wanyama this season.
With manager Mauricio Pochettino looking to strengthen his squad last summer, he swooped to land a player he had already worked with in Wanyama.
The Kenyan powerhouse had been signed by then-Southampton boss Pochettino in the summer of 2013, having starred with Celtic, and he became a vital player for the Saints both under Pochettino and his successor Ronald Koeman.

Whilst there were question marks over Wanyama’s temperament and discipline before heading to White Hart Lane, the defensive midfielder has been a model of consistency and reliability in the Tottenham side.

Wanyama has not only dominated players physically, but has also been a calming influence in front of the back four, recycling possession and keeping things simple in order for the likes of Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli to get forward and attack.

Wanyama cost Tottenham just £11million (Guardian) last summer, and will surely go down as one of the finest bargains in recent years for Spurs if he continues to perform as he has so far this season.
Now, Spurs hero Ledley King has told the club’s official website that he thinks Wanyama has been one of Tottenham’s best players this season, becoming a fan favourite at White Hart Lane.
King noted that Pochettino knew exactly what he was getting in Wanyama having worked with him at Southampton, praising him for his strength and composure on the ball.
“In his first season here Victor has been one of our best players and already a fans’ favourite,” said King. “He played under the manager at Southampton and Mauricio knew what he could do, knew his capabilities and knew what he was bringing to the Club. He’s been great.”

“He’s so strong, wins the ball back, he can play and is a calming influence on the team as well. Between him, Mousa, Eric Dier as well, Harry Winks, they are doing a great job and that central midfield is very strong,” he added.
