Leeds United’s Chris Wood has been named the PFA Championship Player of the Month.

Leeds United striker Chris Wood has been rewarded for his fine recent form by winning the PFA Fans’ Championship Player of the Month award for January.

Wood, 25, went into this season after a solid if unspectacular first campaign with Leeds, and fans were expecting a better return than 13 goals in 36 league appearances.

Wood has got off to a remarkable start in 2017, as he scored six times in just four league games in January, whilst he’s already got going in February with that goal against Huddersfield.

It’s Wood’s record in January that has been a talking point today though, as Sky Sports confirmed this morning that Wood had been named the PFA Fans’ Championship Player of the Month for January.

After winning the award, Wood took to Twitter to thank everybody who voted for him, admitting that he was ‘very honoured and privileged’ to have won the award for January.
