West Ham United boss Slaven Bilic has praised new signing Robert Snodgrass.
West Ham United boss Slaven Bilic has told the London Evening Standard that he was impressed with Robert Snodgrass’ performance against Southampton on Saturday afternoon.
The Hammers travelled to the South Coast in search of a positive result having been thrashed 4-0 at home by Manchester City on Wednesday, but Manolo Gabbiadini’s opener had Southampton 1-0 up.
However, West Ham hit back and claimed a 3-1 victory as Andy Carroll, Pedro Obiang and Mark Noble all found the net for Slaven Bilic’s men.

The game not only saw Jose Fonte return to take on his former club having joined West Ham from Southampton during the January transfer window, but also saw Robert Snodgrass make his first start for the club.

Signed from Hull City last month, Snodgrass started out wide for West Ham against Southampton, and his performance has triggered huge praise from his new manager Bilic.
Bilic, speaking to the London Evening Standard, suggested that whilst he knew what Snodgrass could bring his left foot and his vision, his work-rate was ‘amazing’ and ‘fantastic’ against Southampton.
Bilic added that Snodgrass was brilliant when West Ham switched to five at the back, and is continuing to show the form that made the 29-year-old such a star with Hull.
“We knew about his left foot, we knew about his vision and his plan in his head to combine with other players and to use space and everything,” said Bilic. “But the work-rate was amazing. The work-rate was fantastic. From all the players, but if you ask me about him, definitely.”

“When he was alone at front, when we switched to five at the back, he was brilliant. We expected that from him to be fair. Maybe not this quick but that’s why we got him. He showed that in Hull and he has continued to show that today,” he added.
