Despite not having finished above the Gunners since 1995, Tottenham Hotspur could finally do so, as they find themselves three points ahead of an Arsenal side in poor form.
After the disappointment of missing out on their first Premier League title last season, Tottenham Hotspur needed to approach the 16/17 Premier League campaign with renewed hunger. Their energy, running and non-stop attacking football took them so close to title glory, and after managing to keep hold of their talented young squad, many Spurs fans believe that this year could well have been their year.
And if it weren’t for Chelsea’s outstanding form this season, Spurs may have fancied their chances. Currently sat in second, above London rivals Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur are still in the hunt for that first Premier League title despite trailing Antonio Conte’s team by nine points, looking to improve on last seasons finish.
So will Spurs do it? Will this be the season they finally finish above Arsenal? HITC Sport asked Tottenham Hotspur fans for their thoughts…
Tottenham’s Dele Alli, Danny Rose and Vincent Janssen celebrate
When asked where they thought Arsenal might finish this season, many Tottenham Hotspur fans predicted their London rivals wouldn’t even get in the top four this year, predicting finishes as low as 8th, or even relegated!
Some were feeling a little more generous though, admitting that Arsenal were likely to pick up that fourth place finish, to which they have become so accustomed to over the years.
One Spurs fan though made the excellent point that Tottenham should start focusing more on where they are going to finish, and not where Arsenal are going to!
“This is the year” added another Tottenham Hotspur fan, when asked whether they were finally going to finish above the Gunners. There seems to be a real feeling of optimism around White Hart Lane, and it will be interesting to see if this filters through to the players for the rest of the season!
