Sunderland won against Crystal Palace in the Premier League at the weekend.

Sunderland shocked everyone in the Premier League at the weekend. No one, absolutely no one, was expecting the Black Cats to win at Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon.

David Moyes’s side headed into the match against Palace at Selhurst Park on the back of a goalless draw with Tottenham Hotspur at the Stadium of Light in the league. The performance of Sunderland against Spurs was encouraging, but no one could have predicted them to score four goals against the Eagles.

All four goals came in the first half. Lamine Kone, Didier Ibrahim N’Dong and Jermain Defoe (two) were the goalscorers for Sunderland. A number of players have taken to Twitter to revel in the victory over Palace.

The win against Palace has enhanced Sunderland’s chances of surviving the drop to the Championship at the end of the season and have boosted their confidence.

The Black Cats, though, are still at the foot of the table. Sunderland have picked up just 19 points from 24 Premier League matches so far this campaign, only two fewer than 17th-placed Swansea City.
