Jamie Redknapp has raved about Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino.

Pundit Jamie Redknapp has told the Daily Mail that he thinks Mauricio Pochettino is the best signing Tottenham have made in recent years.

Tottenham made it nine league games without defeat as they beat Middlesbrough 1-0 at White Hart Lane thanks to Harry Kane’s second half penalty handed them all three points.

Spurs remain nine points adrift of league leaders Chelsea, but they look the most likely to run the Blues close in the race for the Premier League, and again look on course to qualify for the Champions League.

Qualifying for Europe’s premier club competition in consecutive season would be a major achievement for Tottenham, and would again show what an incredible job Mauricio Pochettino has done at White Hart Lane.

The Argentinian, plucked from Southampton in the summer of 2014 following Tim Sherwood’s departure, had a mixed first season with the club, but the last 18 months have seen Tottenham emerge from top-four also-rans into legitimate contenders for the Premier League title.

Pochettino has not only overseen the development of players like Eric Dier, Dele Alli and Harry Kane, but has also improved the likes of Kyle Walker, Danny Rose and Mousa Dembele, who were hit-and-miss players under previous managers.

Previously brittle at the back, Tottenham are now one of the strongest defensive units in the Premier League, and much of the change is down to the work of Pochettino, who is now one of the top managers in the world, never mind the Premier League.

Now, pundit and former Tottenham midfielder Jamie Redknapp has told the Daily Mail tha he thinks that Pochettino is Spurs’ best signing of recent years – not Toby Alderweireld, Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli or Victor Wanyama – whilst suggesting that things could not be better or Tottenham right now, urging Spurs to look after their manager.

“Never mind the players, Mauricio Pochettino has been Tottenham’s best signing in recent years,” said Redknapp. “Under the Argentine, Spurs have become serious contenders and, with a new stadium on the horizon, things could not be better.

“No Tottenham boss has a better record after his first 100 Premier League games than Pochettino, winning 52, drawing 28 and losing 20, and that does not surprise me. He is a great organiser, the squad love him and he is one of the world’s best at improving players. Pochettino has done a superb job and Tottenham must make sure they look after him,” he added.
