West Ham United earned another vital three points on Saturday.
Hammers co-chairman David Sullivan raved about the quality of his side’s display against Southampton on Saturday, when writing his regular column for the club’s official website, highlighting the team’s unity as a major factor behind their win, but singled out Mark Noble as the stand-out performer.
What do you think of the mural in place of Payet’s picture at the London Stadium?
The 29-year-old has had to endure his fair share of criticism from West Ham fans so far this term, after a succession of underwhelming displays that have not even come close to matching the kind of performance he was producing on a regular basis last season.
But Sullivan found the time to highlight the quality of the West Ham skipper’s performance on Saturday, when writing his regular column for WHUFC.com, sharing his delight at seeing Noble register just his third league goal of the season:
West Ham United’s Mark Noble celebrates
“I’m sure you will all remember that Southampton beat us 3-0 at home earlier in the season, which shows how much our form has improved, compared with how we were playing at the start of the season, when we lost five of our first six Premier League games. While it was a win that was achieved because everybody played well, I thought Mark Noble was man of the match and he thoroughly deserved his goal to top it off.”

Hammers fans will now be hoping that their captain gains confidence from his display at St Mary’s and starts to replicate last season’s form, which saw him become such a pivotal member of Slaven Bilic’s side.
Do you think that the Payet situation masked West Ham star’s woeful form?
Next up for the East London outfit is a home game against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.
