Leeds United were beaten 2-1 by local rivals Huddersfield Town on Sunday afternoon.

Leeds United co-owner Andrea Radrizzani has taken to Twitter to react to the club’s 2-1 defeat at West Yorkshire rivals Huddersfield Town.

The Whites beat Blackburn Rovers 2-1 at Ewood Park on Wednesday evening, and were on the road again on Sunday as they made the short trip to the John Smith’s Stadium.

Having lost 1-0 to Huddersfield at Elland Road earlier this season, Leeds were looking for revenge against their fellow play-off contenders, but fell behind when Izzy Brown converted from close range for the hosts.

Chris Wood continued his superb season in front of goal by notching Leeds’ equaliser, tapping into an empty net after rounding goalkeeper Danny Ward, but Huddersfield claimed all three points when Michael Hefele turned home a last-gasp winner.

After the dust had settled on a frantic derby – which saw managers Garry Monk and David Wagner sent off for a touchline scuffle – Leeds were left to consider their promotion aspirations.

Now seven points off the automatic promotion places and having played a game more than both Brighton and Newcastle, Leeds’ hopes of a top two finish took a major blow on Sunday, but a play-off looks likely, as they sit eight points clear of seventh placed Norwich City.

With fans still dreaming of a return to the Premier League, an instant response to this defeat is needed, and co-owner Andrea Radrizzani took to Twitter to send messages to fans after the final whistle.

Radrizzani firstly responded to one fan by saying that he was disappointed with the defeat like all fans were, but assured supporters that Leeds would respond promptly after such a disappointing loss.
