Crystal Palace endured an embarrassing 4-0 Premier League home defeat to Sunderland, with fans of the Eagles taking to Twitter to vent their distress.
Sunderland scored four first-half goals to claim victory over Crystal Palace, in what proved to be a significant encounter at Selhurst Park.
Indeed, the result provided visitors Sunderland with three valuable Premier League points and moved them level with Palace at the bottom of the division; a place where the London club did not envisage being upon appointing Sam Allardyce as Alan Pardew’s replacement in December.

Pardew, sacked in part because of an awful points-per-game record in 2016 (0.72), now has exactly the same number of points in his last eight games as Allardyce has managed to secure from his first eight games (one win, one draw, six defeats) – with the former Sunderland boss possessing an inferior 0.5 points per game record.

In a further twist of irony, it was Pardew who oversaw the Eagles’ victory in the reverse fixture against Sunderland, a 3-2 Palace win, earlier in the season, a result that saw them level with Chelsea in the league standings.

However, Palace’s current status as the league’s joint-worst performing club is one that has not escaped the focus of many a fan on social media outlet Twitter, with Allardyce a focus for their discontent.

Following the 4-0 capitulation at home to Allardyce’s former side Sunderland, supporters of the Eagles have revealed their stance on Big Sam’s tenure to date, with somewhat of a damning condemnation.
