The former Celtic striker is critical of Glasgow Rangers manager Mark Warburton.
Rangers manager Mark Warburton recently made some very interesting comments. As quoted by The Glasgow Evening Times, Warburton said that the Gers’ job is to finish second behind leaders and Old Firm rivals Celtic in the Scottish Premiership this season.

Warburton dismissed suggestion that Rangers should be considerably ahead of Heart of Midlothian and Aberdeen in the standings. The former Brentford boss also hinted that he would be happy as long as the Gers end up second.

Former Celtic striker John Hartson was not impressed with the Englishman’s comments. In his column for The Scottish Sun, Hartson has criticised Warburton and believes that he has raised the white flag.

The former Wales international believes that the Rangers boss should be thinking of bridging the gap between themselves and Celtic, claiming that he is what the Ibrox faithful would have wanted to hear.

“I think Gers fans would have preferred to hear their boss talk about how he was going to bridge the gap, rather than make it clear he’s resigned himself to second-best,” Hartson wrote in The Scottish Sun. “Warburton has had the budget to get Gers closer to Celtic than they are and it’s ridiculous to say otherwise.”
Winning the Scottish Premiership this season was always going to be tough for Rangers, but the 25-point gap between themselves and Celtic should be a cause for corner. With Aberdeen and Hearts close behind them, the Gers have to work hard to finish second.
