West Ham United allowed Manchester City far too much space in which to operate last night.
The Hammers were embarrassed by Manchester City at home for the second time in just under a month, as the visitors romped away to a 4-0 victory, and new recruit Jose Fonte admitted to reporters that his side failed to adhere to strict instructions given by Slaven Bilic before the kick-off, as quoted by the Mirror.

The former Southampton man arrived at the Olympic Stadium during last month’s transfer window, for a fee believed to be in the region of £8 million, and was seen as the solution to West Ham’s dreadful defensive record.
There is still a long way to go before he develops an understanding with the rest of the Hammers’ back four, however, if last night’s performance is anything to go by.

And the Portugal international told reporters how he and his teammates are the only ones to blame for their woeful display against City, explaining how they let their manager down, as quoted by the Mirror:
West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic
“We worked on a game plan during the week and when the game started we did not apply it. We tried to over play in areas that the manager said not to. We should have gone with a game plan that would be to explore the play behind and in the flanks and we need to improve.”
