Pontus Jansson bagged the winner in Leeds United’s win but his stats suggests that he offered considerably more.
Pontus Jansson may have taken the headlines following Leeds’ victory over Blackburn after scoring the winning goal, but the statistics suggest that his overall performance deserves a huge amount of credit.

Jansson has already established himself as a cult-hero at Elland Road, so much so that it was arguably a deal that would see his loan move made permanent that Leeds fans craved the most during the January transfer window.

And while he enhanced his reputation with the 89th minute header at Ewood Park, it was his overall display that summed up why he is so loved in Yorkshire.
| Goals | Touches | Tackles won | Total clearances | Duels won | Total passes | Accurate passes | |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Pontus Jansson | 1 | 58 | 1 | 15 | 5 | 36 | 31 |
As well as the goal, Jansson shone by demonstrating the fighting spirit that Leeds desperately needed on a night where the victory was more important than the performance as they looked to beat the relegation candidates and start to put their FA Cup embarrassment behind them.
The 25-year-old found a teammate with 31 of his 36 passes and won five of the duels he contested as well as one tackle, which leaves him ranking high amongst all of the Whites players in those particular areas.

But it is the number of clearances he made that stands out. Jansson made a staggering 15 clearances throughout the game, and that number becomes all the more impressive when put against the rest of his teammates’ stats as Luke Ayling was the man to make the next highest number, making five.

And Garry Monk will be hoping that Jansson can maintain this form over the coming months – and perhaps continue to contribute the odd goal – as it would surely go a long way to making sure that Leeds finish the season well in the top six.
