Rangers barely have two pennies to rub together at the moment so, as Mark Warburton says, they may be forced to let their prized assets leave.
Not that the news will come as a surprise to anyone with a detailed knowledge of Rangers’ accounts, Mark Warburton has admitted that the Scottish giants could be forced to sell their star players if a tempting offer comes their way, the Evening Times reports.
“I hope Rangers fans don’t see it as a derogatory statement. But right now the disparity is such with the clubs down south that we can’t match it,” said Warburton, who sold the likes of Andre Gray and James Tarkowski for huge profits at Brentford.
“So how do we get money in? If you sell a player for £8million and you buy three or four players and move them forward, then that is the way.
“If that means selling your prized asset at the right time and for the right price, then I am sure they will do it.”
‘He has an aura’; Former manager’s praise shows 23-year-old deserves Rangers chance
But who could Rangers earn a pretty penny for by the time the next transfer window rolls around?
Barrie McKay
According to the Daily Record, nouveau-riche talent spotters RB Leipzig were so enamoured by McKay during a January friendly that they launched a £6 million bid almost immediately after the final whistle.
Yet, Rangers will want a fee akin to the £13 million they paid for fellow Scottish starlet Oliver Burke (BBC) if they are to consider selling the wide man.

Quick minded and creative, the 22-year-old has made the step up to the top flight with surprising ease and, beyond the evergreen Kenny Miller, has arguably been Rangers’ most effective attacker this season.
Josh Windass
The fact that the midfielder could make the move from Accrington Stanley to Rangers with little need for an adaptation period says a lot about the standard of the Scottish game. Yet, HITC sources suggested that Windass could have been on the move again after just six months at Ibrox, with Hull City interested in a January move.
Is this seldom seen man’s last chance at Rangers? He’s made a bad start
The 23-year-old remains at Ibrox, however, although for how much longer is anyone’s guess. Windass is one of the most naturally talented players in a youthful bunch and, although he is yet to open his account in Rangers colours, his penchant for firing home the odd long ranger will appeal to plenty of suitors.
Rob Kiernan
Few players appear better suited to Warburton’s purist passing philosophy than centre-half Kiernan. Formerly of Wigan Athletic, the 26-year-old’s impressive distribution meant he was deployed in defensive midfield by Gary Rowett during a loan spell with Birmingham City.

Yet, despite his largely eye-catching displays in recent months, every player has his price. And, according to the Daily Mail, Kiernan’s could be upwards of £2 million. Fulham were reported to have been preparing a bid in January but, if such an offer was to land at Rangers’ door, Kiernan would surely be heading south of the border before you can say ‘tidy profit’.
