While Leeds United did not manage to get the striker that Garry Monk appeared to crave for much of the window, the Whites were able to enjoy a fairly busy transfer deadline day with the loan acquisitions of Alfonso Pedraza and Modou Barrow.

While the latter can play up front, there is no question that both men’s best position currently is out on the wing, which is a position that Leeds already have plenty of options in.

So what do their arrivals mean for the wingers already in Garry Monk’s squad?

Several users of fan forums LUFC Talk and Marching on Together appear to feel that the new men could well move straight to the top of the pecking order.

And while that may not affect the likes of Kemar Roofe and Souleymane Doukara too much as they have other positions in Monk’s 4-2-3-1 system where they can challenge for a place, the situation is perhaps much bleaker for Stuart Dallas and Hadi Sacko, who are unlikely to play anywhere else.

Dallas has struggled to kick on after a promising first season at Elland Road while Sacko’s inconsistency means that he can frustrate and excite in equal measure.

And worryingly for the pair, few fans seem to be suggesting that they are not convinced that Pedraza and Barrow, whose record this season is almost identical to Dallas’ – they have made the same number of starts, and contributed the same number of assists, though the Gambian has done in the Premier League – can not be much better than the wide options that Monk already has.

And should that prove to be the case, then Dallas could be in for an extremely frustrating few months while Sacko’s loan spell in the Championship could ultimately end in unspectacular fashion.
