The QPR defender was a surprise target for Celtic in the final days of the January transfer window.
Celtic were priced out of a January move for QPR captain Nedum Onuoha, Glasgow Live reports, although you won’t find too many fans shedding tears over the lack of 30-year-old former Sunderland centre-backs in Brendan Rodgers’ backline.
The runaway leaders enjoyed a rather quiet transfer window, bringing in just one player in the shape of FC Krasnodar’s Ivorian international midfielder Kouassi Eboue.
However, The Telegraph report that Rodgers was keen on adding another body to his defensive ranks with Queens Park Rangers’ versatile skipper Onuoha on Celtic’s radar.

Few fans would have greeted the news with too much excitement. After all, the former Manchester City youngster has spent three of the last four years in the second tier barring one short Premier League campaign with QPR which inevitably ended in relegation.
£1m man could have succeeded where one-time prodigy failed at Celtic
Nonetheless, Glasgow Live reports that Onuoha was eventually forced to remain at Loftus Road after Celtic were priced out of a deal although, with Erik Sviatchenko, Jozo Simunovic, Kolo Toure and a resurgent Dedryck Boyata to choose from, Rodgers is hardly short of options at centre-back.

The publication also adds that Crystal Palace midfielder Jordan Mutch’s chances of making a surprise move to Parkhead were scuppered by his £35,000 a week wages.
Celtic must aim higher than 30-year-old to match Brendan Rodgers’ ambitions
However, with Celtic cruising to a sixth consecutive league title, Rodgers is in need of players who could help them progress on the European front. Mutch and Onuoha, meanwhile, would be hard pressed dealing with Lionel Messi and co at the Camp Nou.
