Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly tracking the non-league centre-back as Mauricio Pochettino looks to the future.
Thanks to the title-seizing Hollywood tale of Jamie Vardy, scouring non-league for the next big thing is all the rage these days. And, according to the Birmingham Mail, Tottenham Hotspur are set to jump on the craze by targeting Nuneaton starlet Alex Penny.
The 20-year-old defender only arrived at the National League North outfit in May having impressed with Hinckley United and appears certain to continue his rollercoaster rise from the very bottom of the footballing pyramid to the very top.
Pochettino’s Tottenham Hotspur should forget reported target and approach his team-mate
The Birmingham Mail reports that Penny, who is equally adept at centre-half or in midfield, has earned the admiration of Tottenham’s esteemed scouts while West Brom, Newcastle, Leicester, Stoke and Birmingham are also circling.
However, with Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino somehow balancing increasing expectation and an attempted title challenge with his commitment to blooding young players, White Hart Lane could be the ideal environment for Penny to live up to his potential.

After all, he only has to take note of the rapid rise of Harry Winks, evolving from talented academy star to established first-teamer in the space of just a few months, while fellow fresh-faced prodigies Josh Onomah, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Marcus Edwards have also been handed their professional debuts by the forward-thinking Argentine.

And that’s without mentioning Shilow Tracey, the teenage striker plucked from non-league Ebbsfleet last January.
18-year-old prodigy would benefit from joining Tottenham Hotspur or Everton
In a couple of seasons, Penny could prove good value to Tottenham.
