As Chelsea move further and further away from the pack at the top of the Premier League; should Tottenham Hotspur turn their attention to a different piece of silverware?
Sitting at second in the league, Tottenham Hotspur are still very much in the hunt for their first ever Premier League title. After a disappointing end to the previous campaign, Mauricio Pochettino’s men have come out fighting once again this season, desperate to make up for the opportunity missed.
However, after Antonio Conte’s arrival at London rivals Chelsea, the Blues appear to be running away with the league, now sitting comfortably 8 points clear. With Chelsea’s good form, and the fact that other teams such as Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United could all be due a late push for the title, should Spurs turn their main attention elsewhere?

It’s been 25 years since Spurs last won the FA Cup, and after a spirited and hard-fought performance against lower league side, Wycombe Wanderers, Tottenham are still well in the mix as possible winners. So should Pochettino prioritise the Cup?
One reason for doing so would be to continue to progress the club’s young players. With young talent coming through again this season through Harry Winks and Joshua Onomah, Pochettino could potentially use the Cup as a way of integrating this Spurs prospects into the first team; a move that could benefit their league form in the long run.

But would prioritising the FA Cup mean giving up on the hunt for the Premier League title? Though full of talented players, Spurs haven’t got the biggest squad in the League, and will be wary of “burning out”, as they arguably did last season.
However, with some Spurs fans adamant that the priority is not the League, but instead securing a Champions League position, could the FA Cup be an understandable aim? With so many teams challenging realistically for those top four places this season, Pochettino may see the FA Cup as another route into Europe.
