Alex Mowatt had a debut to forget when he was sent off after just 41 minutes for Barnsley last night.
Mowatt’s sale to the Tykes came just two seasons after being voted as Leeds United’s player of the year and winning an England under-20 cap.

For that reason it was a bit of a surprise, but his lack of regular football of late showed last night with a terribly ill timed tackle in Barnsley’s match at home to Wolves.

Mowatt was shown a straight red card and will face a subsequent suspension, and he can have no complaints.
The midfielder has lost his way over the past 18 months, and his Barnsley career could not have got off to a worse start, sent off in the first half with his team already trailing 0-2.
