Tottenham have reportedly made a move for Southampton’s Jay Rodriguez.
According to the Daily Mail, Southampton have ruled out selling forward Jay Rodriguez tonight despite a late enquiry from Tottenham Hotspur – but his absence from the squad against Swansea has raised questions about his future.
Rodriguez joined Southampton from Burnley back in 2012, and with 26 goals in his first two seasons for the Saints, he looked to be well on his way to becoming a top striker for club and country.

However, a gruesome knee injury sustained in April 2014 kept him out of the World Cup in Brazil as well as the entirety of the 2014-15 campaign, but has hit five goals in 23 games this term.
Rodriguez looks to be getting back to his best, but with Southampton poised to land Napoli striker Manolo Gabbiadini, Rodriguez could slip down the pecking order, and speculation is surrounding his future tonight.

After reporting that Sunderland and West Brom both had £12million bids rejected for Rodriguez, the Daily Mail now report that Tottenham have lodged an enquiry for the attacker, gauging the possibility of a deal either today or for the summer.
Whilst Southampton have allegedly made it clear to Spurs that Rodriguez isn’t leaving the club tonight, he has been left out of the squad to take on Swansea City this evening, with more questions about his future.
Rodriguez worked with Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino at Southampton, and with Tottenham still seeking support for Harry Kane with summer signing Vincent Janssen struggling, Rodriguez makes sense as a possible target.
With little time to go before the deadline, Tottenham would have little time to complete a deal, and it may cost around £15million to tempt Southampton into selling, but it’s a situation to keep an eye on.
