The talented Tottenham youngster has been in superb form for the club’s Under-23 side since returning from Peterborough United in the New Year, but is it too little too late or just a parting gift?
Tottenham may look unlikely to make any major signings this January, as deadline day ticks towards its conclusion, but there is little doubt that the club’s promising young academy stars are continuing to catch the eye, even those that may be in the departure lounge at the club.
Skillful winger Nathan Oduwa has had a disappointing 18 months, having impressed in pre-season 2015 in the lead up to Mauricio Pochettino’s second season at the club. It secured him a move to Scottish giants Rangers, where he initially wowed the crowds with his flair and ability to excite. Sadly, the 20-year-old was unable to continue making a positive impression, and Oduwa returned to White Hart Lane this time last year.

Subsequent loans to League One sides Colchester United, and Peterborough United this season, failed to spark him back into form, while talks of a contract extension with Spurs broke down in 2016.

It looks for all it’s worth that this could just be his last few months at the club, having joined the club as an 11-year-old all the way back in 2007.
However, following an impressive performance during the Under-23 side’s win over Southampton on Monday night, the youngster has put together some form to underline his potential once again.

Could Pochettino be convinced that the player is worth giving another chance with the first team, something that could see Oduwa extend his ten years with the Lilywhites?
Oduwa has only featured in three reserve games since returning from the ABAX Stadium, but in that time he has netted three goals and created two.

It is another reminder of what he is capable of, and it comes at a time when he will be determined to catch the eye of other clubs, or convince Spurs to give him a new deal that will see him given first team chances next season, with his contract set to expire this summer.
Whether a last minute loan for the player appears remains to be seen, but with Josh Onomah struggling to take the chances given to him this season, some Spurs fans will hope that Oduwa is given a first team chance of some kind even as he enters what could be the last few months of his Tottenham career.
Given his age, there is certainly still time for Oduwa to turn it round at Hotspur Way or build a career at another club, and performances like those he has been demonstrating recently, coupled with hard work, will do his prospects no harm at all, whatever happens at the end of the season.
