Rangers are reportedly set to sign goalkeeper Jak Alnwick.

According to The Scottish Sun, Port Vale goalkeeper Jak Alnwick will undergo a medical with Rangers today ahead of a £250,000 move to Ibrox.

The Gers have already added two new faces to their ranks this month, as midfielders Jon Toral and Emerson Hyndman have arrived on loan from Arsenal and Bournemouth respectively, whilst defender David Bates has made his loan move from Raith Rovers permanent.

With just over a day of the transfer window left to go, Rangers boss Mark Warburton may be keen to do more business, with one more signing seemingly close to completion.

The Scottish Sun report that a deal has been agreed for Port Vale goalkeeper Jak Alnwick, and the shot stopper has travelled to Glasgow to complete his move, with a medical scheduled for today.

Rangers will pay £250,000 for Alnwick, and he will allegedly pen a two-and-a-half year deal with Rangers, marking the final piece of January business for the Gers.

Alnwick, 23, has been Port Vale’s first-choice goalkeeper since arriving from Newcastle United in 2015, and he has become one of League One’s top shot-stoppers during his time at Vale Park.

Now, Alnwick is on his way to Glasgow to try his luck in Scottish football, and he’ll be providing real competition for first-choice stopper Wes Foderingham during his time at Ibrox.

Alnwick’s imminent move means that summer signing Matt Gilks will be free to move on, as the veteran closes in on a move back to England with Wigan Athletic.
