Newcastle United midfielder Cheick Tiote has only made three appearances this season.
Rafael Benitez has confirmed to the Shields Gazette that Cheick Tiote is set to leave Newcastle United in the near future.
Tiote was expected to leave Newcastle last summer, but a deal fell through at the last minute and he has remained at St. James’ Park.

However, the Ivorian has barely featured this season – with Benitez favouring other members of his first-team squad.

Tiote has played just three times in all competitions, and the Magpies are now actively looking to offload the 30-year-old – with a host of clubs interested.
“We have some clubs interested in him,” Benitez said.
“We are waiting now for the final solution to the situation.”

Tiote has been linked with moves to clubs across Europe and China during the January transfer window so far.
If Tiote does leave Newcastle he will be the first player to depart Tyneside on a permeant deal this month.
