West Ham United have finally sold French attacker Dimitri Payet. It comes after a long stand-off with the club over his future, as he returns to his former club Marseille.

It brings to an end a long ordeal which has seen West Ham publicly decry the player for his lack of respect toward the club that helped him take his game to the next level.

It was soon reported by Sky Sports that Payet was forced to pay his January salary back to the club. He was informed he would need to pay back the £500,000 he earned throughout the month in order to make the move.

It was a judgement that pleased one former West Ham player. Don Hutchison spent two spells at Upton Park in a combined scale of six years.

He posted this message on Twitter earlier today, as he made his views clear on Payet’s exit and behaviour prior:

Payet has certainly made himself a villain among the West Ham fans with his behaviour in leaving the club and many are now glad he has gone.

Hutchison is clearly of the same opinion.
