Everton boss Ronald Koeman has admitted his interest in Burnley defender Michael Keane.
Everton boss Ronald Koeman has confirmed to The Mirrorthat he is interested in signing Burnley defender Michael Keane – though it’s unclear whether a move will be made before Tuesday’s transfer deadline.
The Toffees have added two new faces this month, as midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin joined from Manchester United and attacker Ademola Lookman arrived from Charlton Athletic.
Fans are keen to see more new additions made before the January transfer window closes, and Koeman has today admitted interest in a Premier League defender.

Speaking to The Mirror, Koeman has admitted that he likes Burnley defender Michael Keane, but acknowledged that many other managers are also admirers of the centre back.
“Keane is one of the players on the list, like some of the defenders in that position,” said Koeman. “But I think he’s on more lists in different teams. We know what we want but we don’t sign players just to bring numbers in the squad. If we can’t sign players to bring quality to the team, then we wait until the summer,” he added.

Keane, 24, joined Burnley on loan from Manchester United in 2014, and after just four months at Turf Moor, his move was made permanent having impressed so much in claret and blue.
The 6ft 3in centre back has not only helped Burnley win promotion back to the Premier League, but has now become one of the top flight’s most impressive central defenders, even earning England call-ups off the back of his displays.
Keane has just 18 months left to run on his contract though, and Burnley face losing their star defender even if they do manage to stay in the Premier League, as expected.

Everton are clearly interested in a deal, but whether they can force a move through before Tuesday’s deadline remains to be seen, with a summer move looking more likely.
