Sunderland have only made one signing during the January transfer window.
The results from HITC Sport’s poll looking at the players that Sunderland fans want their club to target this week are in, but which player came out on top amongst the Black Cats supporters who voted?
Here is the top three…
3= Bryan Oviedo (21%)
Everton’s Bryan Oviedo
The Chronicle recently suggested that the Everton wide-man is on Sunderland’s radar as they look to replace Patrick van Aanholt who is seemingly Crystal Palace-bound. His versatility would add depth in a number of positions, and that may appeal if the Black Cats have a limited budget in the final days of the window.
3= Ross McCormack (21%)
Aston Villa striker Ross McCormack finished tied with Oviedo, having received a little over a fifth of the vote. With Moyes’ men struggling for goals, it appears that Sunderland fans would not mind seeing the club take a gamble on the Scotsman who has struggled in the Championship in an attempt to take some of the burden off of Jermain Defoe’s shoulders.
1. Neil Taylor (34%)
Swansea’s Neil Taylor
Although a large portion of fans want to see Bryan Oviedo come in and fill the void that van Aanholt looks set to leave, it is actually Swansea’s Neil Taylor that won the poll, receiving more than a third of the vote. His arrival at the Stadium of Light would weaken the Swans’ survival hopes, which is arguably an added bonus.
