Leeds United were beaten 1-0 by Sutton United in FA Cup action earlier today.

Garry Monk has quickly apologised to Leeds United supporters on social media website Twitter, after his side were knocked out of the FA Cup by non-league Sutton United earlier today.

Sutton ran out 1-0 winners over Leeds, and Monk was heavily criticised after the match.

Monk opted to name a much-changed line-up for the fixture, and the decision backfired as Leeds crashed out.

The Whites’ reserve players did not show their quality in the cup fixture, and rarely threatened during the match.

In the end Sutton’s victory was fully deserved, in what was an embarrassing result for the high flying Championship side.

Sutton struck the killer blow from the penalty spot, when James Collins rolled the ball beyond Marco Silvestri.

Leeds could not got back into the match after that goal went in, and their day went from bad to worse – when Liam Cooper was sent off late on.

Leeds will now have to concentrate on their league campaign, which resumes with a match against Blackburn Rovers on Wednesday evening.
